a stolen and recovered vehicle; parts may be missing, or the lock and ignition damaged.
Registrable in Lithuania
At auction: State Farm Insurance
Cold winters, salted roads. A guess by the auction yard's location — where the car was driven, we do not know. Worth checking the underbody.
At auction: 2.0l i-4 di, dohc, vvt, turbo, 248hp
With the driver's door open — on the B-pillar (the post between the front and rear doors), by the door lock. Usually black or white, with “MFD BY” at the top. Next to it there is a yellow-and-white tyre pressure placard — that is another plate, not needed for registration.
A US car has no European certificate of conformity (CoC), so before registration in Lithuania it goes through a technical expertise (individual approval). It takes the date of manufacture and the permitted weights from this label. In Latvia, the CSDD asks for it too.
A replacement label can usually be ordered by VIN only through the make's US representative — the European ones have no access to that system. It takes time and delays registration. Copies from the internet will not do: they are not the manufacturer's.
Four numbers the deal is measured by: what to bid, what it will cost landed and cleared, what — with the repair, and what would be left after selling it in Lithuania. Worked out by the same estimate we buy by ourselves.
